Time is not a factor when it comes to music and its influence on society. During unjust moments in history, artists have emerged to add a voice from their platform to highlight the historically evident systemic oppression that Black people have faced.

Despite the attempts made previously by civil rights activists and leaders, in the late 1960s, the Black Panther Party was established among strong-minded individuals who advocated to address the injustices against their communities. To bring these inequities to light, musicians across various genres used their craft as a catalyst to bring awareness and inspire change.  It is without a doubt that monumental moments in history have had a musical element within them. From the 60s to now, songs continue to echo the historic efforts made in the fight for equality.

Here you will find songs that either reflects the principles of the Black Panther Party or appreciated figures who advocated for the Black community.
