Spooky Coachella

By Ulises Rodriguez, Staff Reporter

As the toilet paper apocalypse continues, it has proven to be a true fucker as it continues to shut down major events such as Beyond Wonderland, WonderCon, and even our very own graduation ceremony.

One highly anticipated event to have the biggest impact so far was the notorious Coachella, which is hosted yearly in the middle of a desert that, except for Palm Spring, has a bunch of towns that no one visits unless they have to. Except this guy. Sort of.

If Coachella was still about the performers, then people would know that big names such as Travis Scott, Frank Ocean (don’t worry Drake won’t be there this time), Calvin Harris and many other performers were expected to perform this year.

The reason why I say people probably aren’t excited about the performers as before is that Coachella has taken a different direction where now it is about going to an open field and showing off your fashion. What I’m talking about is assless chaps all around, and trust me if I had an amazing ass like James Charles you would see me walking around at Coachella in assless chaps too, probably even to the spring concert on campus if that was still going on.

Now, since Coachella was pushed to October 9-11 and 16-18 people are having full meltdowns, since Coachella is about wearing light clothing. Since the event is happening during the cold-weather season, it leaves people wondering how they are going to play off the huge jackets during the spooky season.

Now the plus side to everyone stressing about their wardrobe issues with the new dates, it has led to many getting a refund on their tickets. Now, if you’re thinking the same thing I’m thinking, then you’re right; right now is the opportunity to get on the waitlist for tickets to Coachella since the probability of getting tickets is now higher.

Now I can’t give fashion advice, but I can say that I think James Charles can still pull off assless chaps…maybe this time in denim jeans with holes cut out in the back.

Several students gave their opinion on whether Coachella during October is a good idea or not.

“I don’t mind the change to October, I think that it’s probably going to be better since it’s going to be nice and cool instead of the hot or windy weather that happens during normal dates for Coachella”, said Noe Acuna, a 23-year-old psychology student.

23-year-old computer science major, Carlos Padilla said, “It’s going to be different to have Coachella that far in the year…it has its downside that it’s going to happen when school will be midway in the semester, making it harder for students to go to the event.”

Just some advice, take double layers if you’re going to Coachella in October, and try to be as creative with the whole spooky theme. This might be the only time Coachella might be pushed to October unless another virus appears and we go on lockdown. Thank you COVID-19 we “love you.”
