Charlottesville attack was nothing short of ‘American terrorism’

On Aug. 12, Charlottesville, Va., suffered a horrible loss of an innocent soul due to the newly empowered white supremacist movement in America.
The night before the actual protest, a Tiki torch march was held by white nationalists, which foreshadowed the violence to come.
The nationalists attacked a group of peaceful protestors. The following day, the violence heightened. That is when the so-called peaceful protest over plans to remove a Civil War statue proved not so peaceful.
White nationalists came to the rally with handguns, sticks, pipes, poles and knives. Some law enforcement officers stood idly by, though others did try to protect counter-protesters.
The main participant who made me feel sick to my stomach was white nationalist James Alex Fields, who allegedly drove into a crowd of counter protesters. He is accused of injuring over 19 people and killing one innocent person: 32–year-old Heather Heyer, a counter protestor.
Mind blowing is the fact that she was a white woman, allegedly killed by a white nationalist. If the rally was to promote white power and supremacy, why kill one of your own? What are you even fighting for at this point?
These aren’t nationalists, these are American terrorists.
There should not have been any reason why law enforcement did not protect those being attacked. Why is it that when white nationalists or the KKK have rallies law enforcement appears idle but when Black Lives Matter or the Black Panthers hold a meeting, it is shut down and arrests are made?
This is the America in which we live. The killing of innocents to advance the power of white supremacy. Shameful.
