CSUDH’s Esports Rocket League Team roll out!

September 18th, 2020 served as the inaugural season debut for CSUDH Esports’ Rocket League team against the University of Montana’s Griz at the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) via Twitch

The debut consisted of a three-game series, with all games lasting around five minutes.

The Toros came out in the opening game with a defensive performance keeping the scoring to a minimum. Team captain BumTickley and teammate Alster both combined for a total of seven saves despite losing this first game to a last-minute goal by Griz’s member Heds.

The second game proved to be a downfall as Griz’s KogtreyFU scored within 20 seconds of the game setting the pace for a dominant second game for Montana. The Toros only attempted two shots this round resulting in a 6-0 finish in favor of Griz but did not quit as Dizzy attempted to set up his teammates.

The final game ended in a Montana sweep as the Griz had a hattrick performance from KogtreyFU and a pair of goals from his teammates.

Despite losing the series the Toros managed to have one goal in the end by Alster with a minute left in the final game displaying all-round efforts regardless of the loss.
