Four–no, make that FIVE– Faculty Honored

Who says those who can’t do teach? That’s Dr. Vivian Price, on the frontlines in one of the areas she is most passionate about: fighting for social justice.

UPDATED Feb.3. The Bulletin is apparently living proof that we hurt the ones we love the most, because we mistakenly left Dr. Ryan Bowles Eagle, an assistant professor in the Communications Department, out of this story when it first posted. Bowles Eagle was named the 2020 Lyle E. Gibson Distinguished Teacher. She will be honored with her four fellow honorees at a ceremony in April.

The Interdisciplinary Studies program hasn’t had a bad first week of the semester: a trio of its instructors received three of the most prestigious honors bestowed on CSUDH faculty.

Dr. Anne Garrett, Dr. Vivian Price and Dr. Jenney Hall were all honored by the Faculty Leaves and Honors Committee, Provost Michael Spagna announced yesterday. Joining them is English professor Dr. Debra Best, who was named the 2020 Presidential Outstanding Professor.

The instructors honored in the IDS were:

Dr. Anne Garrett, 2020 Outstanding Faculty-Lecturer Award.
Dr. Vivian Price,  2020 Excellence in Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity Award.
Dr. Jenney Hall, 2020 Excellence in Service Award.

An awards ceremony will be held later in the semester, and The Bulletin will be sure to reserve some space in print or online to tell a part of the stories of these four instructors taking their place alongside only 75 others to receive these honors in university history.
