“I think it is a great idea that the campus is partially reopened due to it being a good experience for especially those who graduated from high school this year and getting to meet people on campus.” – Brianna, Sociology Major, Freshman “I’m pretty optimistic about it. I think [the mask mandate] is necessary. I think if we can all do this together…the easier it is to transition out of it. The longer we don’t mandate,the longer we’re gonna be in it. I feel pretty safe, and we’re all vaccinated in [the dorms] too.” – Christopher Hendrix, Political Science/Psychology Major “It’s better than I expected, I thought everything was gonna be closed down, but I’m interacting with a lot of people. I do feel safe because I see everybody wearing a mask…It’s a comforting experience and I like it.”
– Carlos Alvarez III, Child Development Major, Sophomore“I don’t mind doing the swab test because I want to continue to keep myself and other students safe.” – Sierra Jones, Psychology, Freshman “It’s great, but it’s also worrisome because even though I’m vaccinated, there’s still a chance of getting it. And I feel, with everything opening up, more variants will keep popping up. Even though there’s probably daily cleaning, I still take the basic protocols, like washing my hands, and using hand sanitizer.”
Caridad Fernandez, Child Development Major, Junior“It’s good we’re taking it step by step, but I think we’re taking it too fast, especially with the delta variant.I feel safe but that’s mostly because I’m vaccinated, and still wear a mask.”
