Meet the Finalists for the new Dean of the College of Education

First of four open forums today at 1 p.m.

What is a college of education without a dean to oversee the entire operation? Well, it’s a college without a dean, but this week the CSUDH College of Education takes one step closer to choosing a new dean.

Each of the four finalists will be the center of Zoom open forums where they will introduce themselves to the campus at large, as well as answer questions from attendees.

There will be three Zoom open forums this week, the first today at 1 p.m., and the final one April 23.

Dr. A. Dee Williams, Monday 1 p.m.

Dr. A. Dee Williams has worked in the Division of Curriculum and Instruction at California State University, Los Angeles Since 2007. He earned his bachelor’s in psychology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1995, his master’s in education from UCLA in 2001, and his doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Maryland in 2007.

Among his scholarly interests are urban teacher education, technology and education, and critical culture literacy

Dr. Sean Lancaster, Thursday, 3:45 p.m.

Dr. Sean Lancaster is the department chair and founder  of the literacy and technology department at Michigan’s Grand Valley State University. He is also executive officer of the non-profit Michigan Teacher Education Network. He has taught at Grand Valley State since 2000, and earned his master’s in special education at Kansas University and his doctorate at Kansas University.

Dr. Jessica Zacher Pandya, Friday, 10: 15 a.m.

 Dr. Jessica Zacher Pandya has worked at California State University, Long Beach since 2005. She is currently chair of the university’s academic senate as well as a professor in both the department of liberal studies and the College of Education From 2014-2020 she served as chair of liberal studies.She received her master’s in education, language, literacy, and culture from UC Berkeley in 2000, and received her doctorate in education, language, literary, and culture from Berkeley in 2005.

Dr. Jann Pataray-Ching, Friday, April 23, 3:15 p.m.

Dr. Jann Pataray-Ching currently is department chair of the College of Education & Integrative Studies at Cal Poly Pomona, where she has taught since 2001. She is also program coordinator of the master’s of education, curriculum & instruction option, and serves on the California State University Deans’ Executive committee.

She has also taught in Hawaii, Indiana and Nebraska, and earned her master’s of education at the University of Hawaii-Manoa, and her doctorate of philosophy at Indiana University.
